The Manchester meeting partly built on some of the early informal conversations initiated in Sydney, Australia this past March. The Sydney summit brought together 22 invited academics and teacher unions focused on the theme of Advancing the influence and impact of educational research in the public interest 2019-2022.
At the Sydney meeting it was agreed that in the context of the increasingly complex global policy issues, there were significant opportunities for the academic community and teacher organization leaders to better serve their members through more intentional and sustained collaboration.
As well, participants recognized the need to be more inclusive and representative of the various teacher organizations and research community.
